Every item you donate to Whale’s Thrift Store goes directly back into the community. When you drop off a bag of gently used clothing, a pair of shoes, or household essentials you no longer need, you are not just decluttering — you are making it possible for someone else to find something great at a price that works for their budget.
We accept donations of all kinds — from everyday casual wear and professional attire to kids clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, and small household items. As long as it is clean, gently used, and in good condition, we would love to have it. Your unwanted items are someone else’s treasure, and at Whale’s, we make sure they find the right home.
What We Accept
- Gently used clothing for men, women, and children
- Shoes and footwear in good, wearable condition
- Handbags, belts, scarves, and accessories
- Small household items and home essentials
- Books, toys, and everyday miscellaneous items in good shape
What We Do Not Accept
- Torn, stained, or heavily worn items that cannot be resold
- Broken or non-functional household appliances
- Mattresses or large furniture items
- Items with missing parts or significant damage
How to Donate
How to Donate to Whale's Thrift Store
Donating is easy and takes just a few minutes. Here is how it works:
Step 1 — Gather Your Items
Go through your wardrobe, closets, and storage spaces and set aside anything that is clean, in good condition, and no longer serving you. If you would be comfortable giving it to a friend, it is probably a great candidate for donation.
Step 2 — Pack It Up
Place your items in a bag or box. No need for anything fancy — just make sure everything is reasonably clean and not mixed in with broken or unusable items.
Step 3 — Drop It Off
Bring your donation directly to our store at 3740 Gentle Breeze Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. Our friendly team will take it from there. If you have a large volume of items or any questions about what we accept, feel free to call or email us ahead of your visit.
